What to Look for in a Personal Trainer App in India

By Abhinav C, Founder, Trainlabs Software · 2 October 2026 · 4 min read

There are many apps for trainers, and the feature lists look alike. These are the questions that actually separate them.

1. How is it priced as you grow?

Some tools charge per client or per tier, so your bill climbs as your business does. Ask what you will pay at 5 clients, at 50 and at 200.

2. What does it cost your clients?

If clients must pay or add a card to join, onboarding gets harder. Check whether clients can join free through your invite link.

3. Does it handle Indian invoicing?

Look for GST invoices with the CGST and SGST split, and the ability to show your own UPI ID. Also find out whether the app handles your clients' payments or leaves that between you and them, because that affects fees and how quickly you are paid.

4. Can you take your data with you?

You should be able to export your records yourself at any time, including after you cancel. Avoid tools that lock your client history in.

5. Is it honest about what works today?

Check whether the features you need are live now, and whether the mobile apps exist yet or are only planned. A clear answer is a good sign.

6. Is the core workflow fast?

Time yourself building one program and sending one invoice. If either takes more than a few minutes, it will annoy you every week.

For reference, TrainLabs is a flat ₹999 a month with everything included, free for your clients, with GST invoices, your own UPI ID on invoices, and self-serve data export. The trainer app runs in your browser today; the iOS and Android apps are in development and not in the stores yet.
